Handcrafted Ostrich Eggshell Heishi Necklace - 217.3 Tech an Akan people of CôteA handcrafted ostrich eggshell heishi necklace, made by the San people of Southern Africa using a technique virtually unchanged for tens of thousands of years. Each bead is broken from the shell by hand, drilled, strung, then ground against a flat stone until smooth and uniform. Strung on natural fibre or sinew with a hand tied raffia or cord closure.
